Seven Days, The

About The Film

A follow-up to the acclaimed 2004 drama To Take a Wife, this tense chamber piece revisits a large Moroccan Jewish family rubbed raw by the unexpected death of the eldest brother. As missiles threaten to rain down on Israel during the Gulf War, Vivian (Ronit Elkabetz), her siblings and assorted in-laws confine themselves in the grieving widow's home for the requisite seven days of mourning. Under pressure-cooker conditions, a chorus of clamorous relatives festers with old grievances and jealousies. Boasting an impressive cast of some of Israel's finest actors (including Keren Mor, Yaël Abecassis, Hanna Laszlo, Moshe Ivgy and Alon Abutbul), THE SEVEN DAYS is a scathing examination of family life. Nominated for 13 Israeli Academy Awards, and winner of Best Feature and Best Actress (Hana Azoulay-Hasfari) prizes at the 2008 Jerusalem International Film Festival.
