Mein Kampf
About The Film
A satirical reimagining of young Adolf Hitler's life in pre-WWI Vienna, MEIN KAMPF mixes reality and fiction with a hefty dose of irony while challenging audiences to reconsider the events that led up to the Holocaust. The film portrays Adolf Hitler (Tom Schilling) as a penniless, unsophisticated failed artist who shares a hostel room with an elderly Jew, and forges an unlikely friendship that will shape the destiny of this troubled outsider. Schlomo Herzl (Götz George) supports Hitler like a father would a son, in turn unconsciously helping Hitler find his way into politics and triggering a fateful turn of world history. Five years in development, this subversive parable of good and evil is directed by Switzerland's Urs Odermatt and is based on the groundbreaking anti-Hitler farce written by late Hungarian-born Jewish playwright George Tabori.
