Matter of Size, A

About The Film

From co-directors Sharon Maymon and Erez Tadmor comes this plus-sized Israeli comedy about overweight people learning to accept themselves. Fed up with a diet-obsessed world and being ridiculed for their weight, four blue-collar friends from the small Israeli city of Ramle discover the world of sumo wrestling, where large people are honored and appreciated. With the help of a Japanese former Sumo coach turned restaurant owner, they decide to pursue a new goal of becoming sumo wrestlers and eventually fall in love with the sport. The result is a simultaneously sweet, hilarious, touching and relatable story of self-acceptance and determination. A feel-good favorite of the festival circuit, A MATTER OF SIZE has already been picked up for a Hollywood remake by the Weinstein brothers. Nominated for 13 Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
