Lost Islands

About The Film

Israeli's biggest box office hit of 2008, and chock full of nostalgic musical and cultural references, LOST ISLANDS is a crowd-pleasing dramedy about a large and fun-loving working-class family with complex interpersonal dynamics, among them marital fidelity, sibling rivalry, teen angst, and generational loyalty. The semi-autobiographical tale by director Reshef Levy unfolds amidst the 1980s Middle East hostilities, and centers around five brothers lovingly raised by devoted parents (Ben Ari and Orly Silbersatz Banai) who put family loyalty above all. When a shocking family secret is unwittingly uncovered, things begin to fall apart. Meanwhile, the older brothers hit their rebellious teen years, embroiled in a rivalry for a redheaded school beauty. LOST ISLANDS is a deft depiction of a family crisis set against the backdrop of national conflict. Nominated for 14 Israeli Film Academy awards, including Best Film.
